Subject: Gray Leaf Spot, Humid Weather

A severe outbreak of gray leaf spot has been confirmed in Connecticut on a perennial ryegrass fairway in Westport.

The recent warm and excessively humid weather has created a week-long outdoor "moist chamber" for fungal growth. Brown patch, dollar spot, and other foliar diseases are commonplace throughout the area. The weather is predicted to return to cool, dry conditions more typical of fall which should greatly reduce these problems.
