Subject: Turf Recovery, Gray Leaf Spot

I hope you are all enjoying the cool weather I brought back with me from the plant pathology meetings in Milwaukee. This is a good time for recovery after the extended hot weather. Gray leaf spot of perennial ryegrass has been reported in Kentucky and Maryland. Please watch for any suspicious symptoms on fairways, roughs, lawns and athletic fields. This disease needs to be confirmed using a microscope because symptoms are so similar to other "standard" leaf spots.
