Subject: Nematicide Applications

Think Nematodes: We have seen very high populations of plant parasitic nematodes in several golf courses this year, probably due to the mild winter. In addition, Nemacur treatments prior to several inches of rain were probably of little value. In one case, stunt nematode populations doubled within four weeks following a Nemacur application. The label allows for two treatments per year so a reapplication can be made. We will be moving into stressful conditions next month. Now is a good time to check for potential nematode injury. There is still time to suppress populations with nematicide.
