Subject: Summer Patch, Anthracnose, Brown Patch, Red Leaf Spot, Pythium

The hot, humid weather is causing the expected problems: summer patch, anthracnose, brown patch. A case of red leaf spot (Drechslera erythrospila) of bentgrass in a wet area of a green was diagnosed. This should be easily controlled with contact fungicides. A couple of cooler nights should give some relief to the turf and stop any Pythium blight or brown patch activity, but another hot period is due next week.
