Subject: Gray Leaf Spot

Gray leaf spot of perennial ryegrass has been confirmed in samples from Long Island and Connecticut. If you have ryegrass, fungicide protection is recommended. Be aware that resistance to the Qoi/Strobilurin fungicides (Heritage, Compass) has been confirmed in some areas. Do not use this group in consecutive treatments. Tank-mix with another group or a contact (e.g. chlorothalonil) when using them for curative action. The disease is most active in warm, wet weather. If it stays cool, there will be less disease, but it will not cease until we have a frost.
