Nematodes
Subject: Root-Knot Nematodes

Did root-knot nematodes show up in your soil assay last year? If so, the numbers/100 cc of soil were probably fairly low. It is very difficult to get a true measure of the potential threat of root-knot nematodes during the growing season because the juveniles have moved into the roots. Our nematode assays only recover nematodes from the soil. We have found that samples taken in early to mid April represent a better estimate of the population. If you have root-knot nematodes, April is the best time to make an assessment.
