Subject: Spring Diseases

The passing of the snow revealed the expected Typhula blight and pink snow mold this spring. We have not seen any active pink snow mold this year but its activity would vary from location to location. Anthracnose crown rot has taken hold on winter-stressed greens on some courses. Select a systemic fungicide such as a benzamidazole, DMI or strobilurin to control this disease. If a second application is necessary, select from one of the other two groups. Increase fertility as much as you can justify. If the foliar stage develops, add chlorothalonil to one of the above, and apply to the foliage without rinsing off
