Subject: Chorothalonil and Groundwater Protection

Turf managers are reminded that the use of some pesticides are restricted in Massachusetts by "Zone II" regulations. All formulations of chlorothalonil are on the Zone II list. These regulations are designed to protect drinking water. The Golf Course Superintendents Association of New England is proactively involed in encouraging superintendents to comply. The Department of Agricultural Resources has an excellent web site to inform and advise on this important subject. http://www.mass.gov/agr/pesticides/water/index.htm External Link

DISCLAIMER - As always, it is the responsibility of the applicator to verify the registration status of any pesticide BEFORE applying it. Different states have different regulations as well. The author and the University of Massachusetts are not liable for any consequences of any pesticide "recommendations". Mention of any trade name is not to be considered endorsement of a product.
